Melia does, after all, have a few good attackers who are a bit on the slower side (Gardevoir, Togekiss, and Hydreigon in particular), so helping her out with Sticky Web, status, and so on and so forth made this a fairly straightforward Double Battle.

Zetta and Geara were freaking horrible on my Ice monotype (the Volcanic Top Field is THE WORST if you’re running an Ice-type team because it removes your hail within a single turn, boosts Fire-type moves, gives Rock-type moves – including the omnipresent Rock Slide – an annoying sub-type that will ensure almost anything you have will easily drop dead to it, weakens your Blizzards, and can, for some ungodly reason (should you manage to use Blizzard twice to change it to Snowy Mountain, which is obviously a more favorable terrain), be changed back within a single turn – seriously, why?), but they were pretty easy for my Grass-type team, mainly courtesy of Melia. The main difficulty lay in setting up, which involved getting rid of the Hawlucha he opened with, stalling out his Tailwind, and then somehow Ingraining the field to the mountains. Souta was a bit more involved because he shut down my usual hail shenanigans, but his team (especially on intense difficulty) still had a significant Ice-type weakness even with the Strong Winds, and if I could change the field to Snowy Mountain, Alolan Sandslash could take care of the rest by sweeping with field-boosted Icicle Crashes and Slush Rush. Angie gave me insane advantages courtesy of the field, which allowed me to sweep most of her party with my Alolan Sandslash fairly easily, and so did Erick after a Blizzard. Either way, it depends a lot on the overarching strategy your team is built around and how good its synergy with the field is, I think – Angie and Souta were both absolute nightmares during my Grass monotype, and Erick was also reasonably challenging (as he basically forced me to choose between annoying field damage and boosted Ice-type coverage to wreck my Grass-types with), but all three were fairly easy when I did an Ice monotype. I'm primarily discussing the game on intense difficulty, as it's been a while since I played through it on normal mode. I would probably add the fight against Melia and Aelita directly after defeating him to the list, though, and Clear is also a nightmare (in general, I feel chapter 15 really picks up in terms of difficulty). Ryland was actually not all that challenging in my view, though two out of my three monotype runs had me at a type advantage against him overriding his sandstorm with hail during my Ice monotype ended up being a particularly successful strategy. Saki is absolutely horrible (especially if you have a type disadvantage), so I most definitely share your view on that fight as well. Still, I also have the general experience of her not being all that great, so I do not disagree with your assessment at all.
